Thom Hasenpflug - Musical Compositions
MUSICAL
COMPOSITIONS
Percussion sheet music by Thom Hasenpflug professionally presented and
published under the “Hasenworks” label (for lack of
a
better name…) If you’re looking for
something else
(such as Bicksa),
scroll way down for a
selected list of Hasen-compositions carried by
other publishers.
The following pieces can be ordered directly, but I also equally
recommend purchasing them through one of our retailers, listed here on the
links page,
especially if you wish to pay by credit card. I can
not
currently accept credit cards, so in such a case definitely choose a
retailer.
Otherwise, I can accept check or purchase orders, and can bill you or
your institution.

PERCUSSION
ENSEMBLES
Corps – tet (4 snare
drums) 17.00
This piece takes the rudimental scene and adapts it to the concert
style. It is short, fun, and playable by any 4 snare drummers with
moderate technical ability, and thus can have a home on the high
school, college, or even professional ensemble concert. This piece was
recently performed by Arizona State at the 2006 PASIC Lit session.

Flatiron Wolf (5 players:
4 percussionists and featured marimba soloist) 30.00
Written for and premiered by my good friend Tom Burritt in 1994, this
dynamic 5-player work presents a high energy slap in the face within a
small- to medium-set-up. Though the score asks for two electronic
trigger pads to be played by the marimbist, acoustic instruments (i.e.,
a ribbon-crasher and a low drum) may substitute. This one is a crowd
pleaser! Check out the definitive recording on the Hasenproject
Compercussions CD.

KEYBOARD
Diptych: Siesta y
Vagancia (Keyboard duet: M / V) 17.00
This intermediate / advanced duo is recorded on the Hasenproject CD,
and is presented in a two movement slow-fast form. Influenced
by
a form explored in the music of Gordon Stout, this “two sided
painting” is suitable for upperclass, graduate and
professional performances.

Not for Rebecca (solo
vibraphone) 6.50
OK regarding this title: It’s not about anybody you know! But
the
solo is one which combines jazz and contemporary influences over its 4
minute duration. Suitable for college senior and graduate-level
recitals.

And since I have your
attention might I also mention my brother Andrew’s piece for
solo marimba called:
7/5
10.00
I describe it as “when the upper and lower register duke it
out
in a crazy polyrhythmic way” – It
requires one to
play the polyrhythm, 7:5 , but that’s actually not as hard as
one
might think. This piece is truly unique, and I have fallen in love with
it over the years and have added it to my staple repertoire. Check it
out on the Hasenproject CD!

ALL
TIMES IDENTICAL to Recent Years (professional / advanced
— 5 octave required)
A 2006 Tom Burritt commission, this is one tough nut! One of the
works I am proudest of musically, this 3 movement work is played as one
piece of music through three “times”: the time of
oceans,
the time of machine, and the time of love and war. It was premiered in
2006 at the LHS summer marimba institute, and was featured in showcase
concert at the 2006 PASIC in Austin, TX.
